The Bay Area Hearing Voices Network represents a partnership between individuals who hear voices or have other extreme or unusual experiences and beliefs, professionals, allies in the community, and family members. As a group, we are working together to change assumptions made about these experiences and create learning and healing opportunities for people across the Bay Area.
http://www.bayareamandalaproject.org/
The Bay Area Mandala Project (BAMP) is a group composed of consumers, family members and mental health and medical professionals holding expertise in psychiatric crises, spiritual emergencies, peer support, and wellness and recovery support services. We promote alternative approaches to healing and recovery. We provide public education to build understanding of mental health and wellness as it relates to extreme states. Our proposed programs provide a therapeutic, holding environment which is flexible and able to respond to a wide range of emotional states and behaviors, including extreme states allowing individuals to feel safe, while staff accompanies them and supports their experience.

The Icarus Project is a support network and education project by and for people who experience the world in ways that are often diagnosed as mental illness. We advance social justice by fostering mutual aid practices that reconnect healing and collective liberation. We transform ourselves through transforming the world around us.
http://nationalempowermentcenter.com
National Empowerment Center To carry a message of recovery, empowerment, hope and healing to people with lived experience with mental health issues, trauma, and and/or extreme states. As a consumer/survivor/expatient-run organization, we carry out our mission with authority, as each of us is living a personal journey of recovery and empowerment. We are convinced that recovery and empowerment are not the privilege of a few exceptional leaders, but rather are possible for each person with lived experience. Whether on the back ward of a state mental institution or working as an executive in a corporation, we want people who are mental health consumers/survivors/expatients to know there is a place to turn to in order to receive the information they might need in order to regain control over their lives and the resources that affect their lives.
http://www.shadesofawakening.com
Shades of Awakening is a community and online hub that grew out of an 3 day online Speaker Summit in July 2015 that brought together experts to explore the topic of spiritual emergency. Also known as spiritual crisis, this term was coined by Stan & Christina Grof to describe a set of extreme mental, emotional or spiritual states of consciousness that can provide a rich opportunity for transformation and growth.
This site, along with our vibrant facebook group continues to engage both professionals as well as those with “lived experience” who are interested in redefining madness. Our mission is to create a space to explore compassionate and culturally appropriate contexts for extreme mental, emotional and spiritual states that provide support and healing to those seeking integration, community and validation.

Spiritual Emergence Network provides individuals that are experiencing difficulties with psychospiritual growth a therapist referral and support service that is staffed by trained graduate students. In a culture which has not understood issues surrounding spiritual development, the gift of being heard and understood by a knowledgeable and supportive listener can be life-altering. We can provide referrals to licensed mental health care professionals (often in the caller’s area) who may be of ongoing assistance. All members of SEN’s National Referral Directory are licensed and insured and specialize in or have been trained to deal with many psychospiritual issues.
